2degrees promise residential broadband customers: “no price rise in 2019”

2degrees promise no price rise 2019
Saturday, 9 March 2019

2degrees has promised residential broadband customers that they won’t face a price rise in 2019.

Scott Taylor, Chief of Consumer for 2degrees, said the announcement was simply another way of saying thank you to its loyal customers and he was quick to invite new customers to join and take advantage of the promise

“If you’re a current 2degrees customer, we’ll swallow the costs on this one and we’ll give you our word that we won’t put your prices up this year,” said Scott Taylor, Chief of Consumer for 2degrees.

The move is an attempt to get an edge on 2degrees key competitors like Vodafone and Spark.  Both recently hiked broadband prices for their residential customers following an increase in the cost to provide the service. This means around 750,000 Kiwi homes have been effected by increasing broadband costs since October.
The announcement is a timely move following a recent Herald article announcing that Vodafone customers who faced a price increase in February were allowed to terminate their fixed-term contracts without penalties.

Mr Taylor said “If you’re with the other guys and don’t like the price rise, then come and have a chat to us. They’ve stated that they won’t charge you a break fee if you leave because they’ve put their prices up,”.

“While we can’t guarantee we won’t pass on future increases in costs, we think it’s only fair to give our customers certainty for 2019: if you’re with 2degrees for residential Broadband, there’ll be no price increases this year.
