So you've gone through the process of getting fibre broadband installed and you're all ready to be blown away by the speeds and quality of your new ultrafast fibre broadband connection... but you've been underwhelmed... well maybe your internet provider is not delivering the goods.
According to the latest Truenet.nz report, the speed differences for downloading and surfing on NZ websites continue to show a wide spread of performance. All NZ internet providers can, in theory, deliver similar speeds for the technology they sit on, but the difference is how fast each service can actually download a range of popular websites in NZ and overseas.
The fibre broadband speeds that are recorded by Truenet on their 'NZ Surfing Speed' fibre results are spread from 31.7Mb/s (Voyager) to the best at 41.2Mb/s (Orcon).
International Surfing Speed fibre results are a completely different ranking but also a big spread, with Orcon again on top at 35.5Mb/s, and Trustpower last at 24Mb/s.
With these figures in mind, let’s not forget about the price of fibre broadband. Speed is very important but if it costs you the Earth why would you take it? The table below simply shows you speed results and topline prices for major NZ ISPs that are available on Truenet report.
